A little history from Kevin Hawkins.
4 pictures were taken from the upstairs window of 5 Welcome Cottages, Woldingham, by my father Brian Hawkins.

Taken around 1960 when the Hall was the village primary school.  The building that can just be seen on the right which looks like a church is the Parish Hall - the predecessor of the current village hall.  A small room can be seen jutting out from the school just to the right of the telegraph pole.  This was the boys' cloakroom which was demolished when the school was converted to the Hall.  Not seen in the picture is the school toilet block which was on the right hand side of the playground.  The school never had any internal toilets, at least not for the children.
Picture
Taken a couple of years later.  The main difference is that a portacabin style temporary classroom can now be seen on the right hand side (obscuring the view of the Parish Hall).  The school was outgrowing its premises and moved to Woodlea in autumn 1964.
Picture
Taken around 1970, 2 years after the new Village Hall (incorporating the old school buildings) was completed.  This shows the back of the building with the Main Hall room on the right, and what is now the nursery children's playground.
Picture
Taken around 1980.
